I have been asked to investigate solvent printing on a 6" to 36" polyester ribbon substrate. I know some printers will start at 6" minim, some start at 8" minimum. In this case I know that three printers may be needed.

I would appreciate any input from owners of any brand solvent printer as to issues or anything you might have to say about the procedure.

I have spent time on the web sites run by Roland, HP, Mutoh, and Mimaki and I completely understand the principal of solvent ink.

Anyone have experience with white and silver ink??
Thanks in advance for your inputs.

I don't know how you'd print on a ribbon unless it was real wide.  As far as I know only a few companies have white and/or metallic colors.  If it is regular width ribbon, an inch or so wide I'd consider dye subbing on white ribbon.
Then again I may be way off base not knowing the circumstances.

BTW I do have a Mutoh eco sol printer.  Just never tried using it on polyester ribbon.

I wonder what model you have and what is the minimum width printable.
This is not satin ribbon. Poly ribbon has the same thickness and stiffness as standard copy paper.

I added better data to my post.
