Hi,

Has anyone had first hand experience with KISSCUT paper? I contacted them today, in the UK, to see if they have landed any US distributors.

Other transfer sheet suppliers I've contacted  haven't tried KISSCUT yet, but they said they have no intentions of carrying it. Since they haven't tried it, maybe it is more of an issue of the other brands not wanting distributors to carry competing products.

The 2 step papers like ImageClip wouldn't work for me…it would be almost impossible to align the laser masking sheet print with the actual image print for the fine line cartoons I want to transfer.

Thanks……….Pete

I don't believe Kisscut has any USA distributor, I toyed with the idea but too many issues for me. It is expensive ad I think you have to use their printer and supplies.

I don't think it is ready for prime time...but my contact was almost two years ago

Hi Charles, thanks for the reply....

I only have a few specific designs that would benefit from a paper like this (the rest could use regular transfers), but allowing me to offer them on a wide variety of styles and colors, and not having to trim them so carefully, would probably make a trial worth while for me.

I don't want to silk screen them because I'd have to commit to too many pieces in different sizes and styles.
Nor do I want to use DTG printing (not dye sublimation) because of the higher cost per shirt if I have a DTG company print them (and buying a DTG printer, even a cheap $15,000 one, is beyond what I would buy any time soon...especially since technology is always changing, and possibly rendering it obsolete too quickly).

On KISSCUT's site, they only specify you have to use an Epson pigment ink printer. They offer inks, but say it doesn't matter if you use their inks, as long as you use Epson style pigment inks (aftermarket pigment inks are OK too, I use MIS).

The KISSCUT sheets are about $110 for 100 A4 size sheets or 50 A3 sheets. If they're good, it would be worth it to me to pay a buck a sheet (as long as shipping is reasonable) if I didn't have to trim it, and it left no milky backing, that's visible with JetWear Light transfers on Red shirts. If it can look like silkscreen printing, I'd be real happy.

I'll post what I find out from KISSCUT..........Pete

I am not sure what you mean by aligning the images, but there is no alignment of the image.
The Nenna Image Clip dark Transfer has worked well for me imprinting almost all "cartoon" or clip art images onto dark garments.

This is a series of 5 videos from Conde that will help you understand how this paper works.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the reply. You are refering to Laser printers for this style paper. I'm talking about Inkjet pigment ink printers. The Image clip paper for Inkjet printers require a 2nd step using a negative image made on a black and white laser printer, that makes a "mask" to cover all non-image areas. You have to precisely align the two papers when pressing them, to mask out the background.

Correct, I lost focus on the ink jet requirement..........

Before the new paper came out I printed several complicated graphics with the image clip cause, like you , I didn't want the polymer shadow on my ash gray shirts and other pastel colors. The attachment is an example of the old Image Clip, washed several times.
I used a light table, crosshair style alignment marks and some tape......oh yeah and a bit of Jack and Branch to steady the nerves.

Hopefully the data will help someone else that might be on the fence.

Yeah, I can see how that can take a lot of time!...Looks good though.

Even though it's clear and not mlky, there seems to be a visible area of "clear backing" (especially to the right side of the words "STATE OF MIND"). Is this an optical illusion in the photo? Image Clip, even the older type that uses the mask, is supposed to only leave the backing under the image areas, right?..............Pete

That was the wrong image. That was part of a a comparison between JPSS and Image Clip. The Jpss was cut by ha ;Dnd as close to the lettering etc as possible. The Image Clip image showed no sign of the poly shadow...... now all I have to do is figure out if I deleted it and won't have it for future use.... senile twit.

Anyhow, it works.

One of the things I will be looking for at the ISS show coming up in Jan in Long Beach is what new papers are out there. Technology is improving everyday. Maybe I can find Vanessa from Neenah and pick her brain. She is also a member here. Anything else I should be look at guys. Lou
