I'm searching for information, obviously not getting satisfactory response from my suppliers. My RICHO GX7000 suddenly died. I have been very pleased with the printer with many satisfied customers. I primarily sublimate on "performance apparel" (polyester). My problem is it didn't last a full year of printing. My warranty is not valid because my "purchase date" and the date my printer died is 5 days beyond the one year period.

If there is someone on this forum with experience with other sublimation printers, any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to gather information from printer owners rather than manufacturer reps. The GX 7000 prints were great but to reinvest $1,000 each year for a new desktop printer makes me pause.

I don't know who the dealer was. Conde is one of them............ they have always been willing to help me..........

Most of us use Epson WF1100 http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/ProductCategory.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=-8165&iref=printerhubflash_001_single-function_pos2

with ink from Cobra systems
http://www.cobraink.com/index2.htm
Cobra also sells complete systems, printer with your choice of type of ink and a CIS system to match.

You can buy the printer on sale for an average of $130 and a complete refillable ink system from Cobra for less than $150
http://www.cobraink.com/cartridges/Combo%20Pack%20high%20temp.htm

I have personal confidence in all styles of the the Cobra ink. My tile murals are exact replicas of the original artwork with vibrant color and gradient. My poly garments passed the 75 wash mark long ago with minimal or no discernible fade.
I use Cobra ink for all my heat transfers as well as my printing where DYE ink is required. In short, I have 5 WF1100 on line all filled with Cobra ink.

If you decide to use this system we all can help you with the easy set up.

There have been several cases like yours . I have one and in use for over two years. A friend recently ad one die and he gave to me to use the "new" ink carts he had just installed. I did a lot of checking and there are those who believe there were some defective carts sold by sawgrass. I think the suspect carts expiration dates were in the last part of 2010 and early 2011. Since the carts I had from my friend fell into that range....I tossed them.

Please note that I do not know this s a cause...mark it as just a rumor that might have sow element of truth... Just curious...have you recently changed carts?

You might want to check out cobra ink

I had good luck getting Conde to replace my first dead Ricoh.  When it died I had heard NOTHING about the dying problem, so it was a complete surprise.  Since then, there have been many complaints, so I figured I'd work with the second printer as long as it would go.  It very recently died, and I'm not asking anyone to replace it.  I'm finished with Sawgrass.

we stuck with our 1280 given all the problems. the real solution if you are serious and have enough volume for dyesub is go to go a large format printer. they are 6 large but the ink is 10% of the cost of the tabletop models.

FOLLOW UP TO MY POST YESTERDAY: After initial contact I over reacted to Sawgrass first response, I'm happy to report they are honoring the Warranty on my GX 7000. I received support from my sublimation supplier and they are greatly appreciated. So should be up and running again next week.

Thanks to all for the information and equipment suggestions, I did consider the large format printers but after investing in Direct to Garment printer, I thought a desktop sublimation printer was more cost efficient way to diversify my business. The plan was working until GX 7000 died. Currently my volume would not support large format printing, but if my business continues to grow I will take a serious look.

Thanks to all,

Bob

I am glad sawgarbage stepped up to the plate for you.

The next time it dies........ bury it and switch to the Epson WF1100 system. You will not regret the choice.
