My Corel 4 program used to zip along. Now, every move of an object takes forever to process. I have run the customary scans on the OS for virus, maleware and ad-ware. I have removed un-needed software and any software from the start up menu that might gobble up memory. Illustrator and Photoshop, do not run slowly. This led me to conclude that I have inadvertently changed some sort of setting in Corel draw that causes this. But, darned if I know where or what that might be. Anyone have some ideas?

If only Corel is slow, some parameter has been inadvertently changed in it's default settings. Check to see if it is doing an AUTO SAVE on each command.

Check your default settings and return all of them to factory values (make notes as to settings you might have changed). Create a very simple text design and work with it, watching the bottom of the screen to see if there is anything processing.

If the issue persists...... call me.

F8 while booting Corel. Got it. Yes, nothing else is working this slowly. Thank you both.

Is there another method to return the performance settings beside the F8 key upon boot of Corel? I am not finding this working. Since it's a laptop I might need an additional key to enable the F-keys but, Function plus F8 doesn't seem to do the trick. Other suggestions?

With some laptops you might have to hold down the function key often it is blue

You should be able to go into TOOLS>Options and change all your settings if I remember correct.

But, I'm using X3 so it may have changed.

Good Luck!
