I use my craft robo to cut the insides of stencils, no problem at all. I think its a great little cutter. I've even cut a tribal design 7" high by 28" long for the back of a truck.

Negative space....that area that you want cut out that is surrounded totally by an image..couple examples...think of a letter 'O'...the negative space is that within the circle. a cutter with optic eye could cut around the 'O' and then the inside so just the letter would appear on the garment...or take the superman logo..you could cut around the logo and then the interior

I also use the Silouhette/Craft Robo but have only used it for garment vinyl. I bought it because of the price and the ability to contour cut. I have yet to use the contour cut option but am interested in what type of transfer paper for darks everyone uses. 3G opaque? What settings?

I haven't used my Craftrobo much for contour other than playing around.  Initially I got it for contour cutting, but the actually cut area is smaller than the 8.5" width as you need room to print the registration marks.
I don't do much in the way of full color designs right now, so I don't use dark paper that much.

If I got another contour machine it would be large enough to contour cut a print from my 13x19 inkjet printer.  I think that would be more useful.
