Well, after just 2 jobs our vinyl cutter has covered its cost to purchase. It is one of those cheapo US Cutter models found on ebay but it works pretty good. It was an inexpensive way to get into this part of the biz and was a good learning experience.

Congratulations!  Glad to hear that worked out for you.  I often wish I'd gotten a smaller cutter first and paid it off just so I'd have a backup I could hang on to.  I love my Graphtec and it hasn't needed a backup yet, but sometimes I think it would be good piece of mind to have a backup.

Good job, Fivestar!  How is it working for you?  Do you use it mainly for t-shirts or signs?

I do about that same of each.  The job a did that paid for the cutter was 24 3'x5' banners.  As for the cutter, it's an awesome machine, I love it.

Hi all, We are just starting out in the t-shirt business. Mainly doing festivals. I have helped and done a few sport events with the vinyl
Cutter, for decals and banners.  Hope I can ask this type of questions about different brands of cutters. If not please do not hurt me to bad. This is all new to me. Had to ask about the GraphTec CE5000-60 cutter. My son has that one and loves it and I have used it myself at a few shows with no problem.  I will be buying my own next month and the sales rep sells both the roland and the graphtec around the same price. He said he would pick the roland over the other by far. What do you think andy advice woud sure be grateful.

2 years ago I bought a us cutter creation off ebay MISTAKE. I only used it 3 times, should say tried to use it. I am sure some of the problems was on my part not knowing enough. They did help with my drives to use it with the flexi program. I would do one design then cut it then do another  and try to cut it but then it told me that it could not find a connection or something like that.  Had to shut down the computer and start over.  Just was not worth it. If I could find the manual I would be glad to pass it along cheap on ebay but.. They do not have an extra manual to buy so it sit collecting dust.

Really appreciate any feedback on the cutters.

I've never used a Roland but I don't know how the sales rep could say "by far" he would go with the Roland.  I know I love my GraphTec and it cut everything so nice.

As for your US Cutter Creation, it sounds to me like it's a USB connection you're using and there was problems with them.  I own 2 US Cutter Refines and they are great cutters for the price, they are a few notches below my GraphTec but they still cut vinyl real good.

i agree, with fivestar, my first cutter was a refine mh-871,
you should get that beast out of the closet , dust it off and put it up for sale on the forums here,, someone who already has one and know s how to run it and has the manual, could proble use it,, and put some kachingggg  in your pocket,,
for your new machine..

I always thought it was the usb that was giving me problems but was not sure. I can list it somewhere here on the site. I would love for someone to buy it. I am sure it is a great machine but it is not for me. Let me know where I can list it at and I will do that.

Really appreciate any feedback on the cutters.

Here is my opinion,, The Roland seems to be a little easier to work with when it comes to contour cutting, but its weak on the downforce side of things,, overall its a great machine(tad bit expensive for what it is) I am of course talking about the gx24.

The Graphtec, seems to be a little more difficult on countour cutting but I suppose its what you get used to, I think the Graphtec is a more solid built machine and has a lot of downforce( almost double that of the Roland) and is less money.

There are other machines out there in this price range that are just as good as either one of these and are little known to the public because they have been private branded.

Now when a salesman suggests one machine over the other especially when they are in the same high end category there must be something in it for him, such as spiffs (bonus $)
or maybe a free trip or something of the nature.

Bottom line is do your home work.

Well details are a little sketchy at this point however I just found out about this yesterday. Its a 15 inch cutter and as you know most of the material that is used for templates are 15" oh and by the way there is a new rubber coming out its black and has a sliker surface,, its new and improved. So back to the machine,  it has the same software as the Eagle except its small and very portable,, so you can take it on the road to cut vinyl or templates as needed, the nice thing about this is that its at $2399.00 wich is less than the software for the other system out there, only one big difference this is a machine and software.

As more details come to light I will post them.

Roger,,
That is awesome, i cant wait for updates,
Hey are you selling blades yet?
When this happens let me know, I think the eagles blades might be different becuase of the all the force it has,, other wise I would try my roland blades from us cutter,, but i think they are different,
so let me know as i want to keep some extras for that time when we go shoot, what is up with this , and relize it is time to change blades,,
so let me know as soon as you carry the 57 or the 60..  as those are the 2 they recommend for the eagle..

We just finished up 30 shirts, 2 sided, one color. It was a great job and brought in more business from the same customer.

We did initially have problems with the usb but added a serial port to the laptop and now it runs great.
