I was trying to do 5 things at once and playing with press foil on vinyl...and like a good boy, I was practicing with a scrap of material that had some cadcutH2O vinyl...and I forgot to cover ...now I have some vinyl from the material on the press...so any suggestions on how to remove?Huh

BTW...on subject of heat presses...Guess who among us is now an authorized dealer for Geo Knight heat presses...a line of elite presses...with some decent pricing.

I would take it that your press is not teflon coated. If not then you could possibly use a single edge razor blade VERY CAREFULLY to remove the vinyl and if you did nick the platten a tad use some 600 wet dry to lightly smooth it out. If coated then you may be able to use a non scratching pan cleaning pad.  Undecided Undecided

If it is a very thin layer and not affecting other prints you might want to just leave it there.

Charles, I did that as well.......... upside down transfer for dark fabric Cry Cry Cry

I wiped off as much as I could while the press was hot with an old terrycloth towel. I let the press cool and continued with some Simple Green and the towel. Each time I fired the press I cleaned a little bit more.

It was a mess but 99% came off.

Good to know that Goof-off worked. Congrats on getting the vinyl off, Charles. I usually try to use iron off when I mess up, but I have not heat pressed vinyl to my press (yet). Mostly just plastisol or transfers.I need to get one of those teflon sheets with magnets so I don't have to remember to put a cover sheet on. Grin

The Geo. Knight presses are great presses.  We use them and sell them.  They're tough presses and Geo. Knight has great customer service.

when this happens, we use lots of candles to clean the press... while it still hot just continue to rub the plate with candles and then cloth... until its clean... be careful not get candle drips on you...
