That is correct. Sublimation printer, ink, paper will provide a very vivid image on specially coated mugs. You can process these with either a mug press or with special wraps that wrap around the mug or shot glass, clamp on, holding the release paper in place. With the wraps, you 'cook' them in an oven - often a small table top convection oven ( about $100). The wraps are about $25 each... Or you can buy a mug press from Lou for about $159!!  But, you need also the printer, ink and paper...

I'm so impatient.  I'm ready to buy a mug press, but Lou's site says out of stock until mid-Feb.  I'm checking daily!!

Can I use my workforce 1100 wideformat printer for the mugs? If I am lucky enough to win. Smiley

AS LONG AS YOU HAVE SUBLIMATION INK AND PAPER IN YOUR WF1100, YOU CAN CREATE GRAPHICS TO PRINT ON MUGS OR 100% POLY SHIRTS ETC.

Sublimation ink has to be purchased separately and once installed in a printer should not be switched back and forth with "stock" ink.

One of our forum sponsors, ALPHA SUPPLY has spent a great deal of time creating an educational web site covering all aspects of the imprinted transfer business.

Spend some time reading this site and you will have answers to most of your questions about sublimation. They discuss an HP printer with 'sublimation toner" do not concern yourself with that printer, focus on how the process works.

There is another portion of their site dedicated to heat transfer business. You can access that from their home page..
