I just got my Maxx 16 x 20 today. I am now reading the book so I can press 5 shirts front and back tonight. Does anyone have any advice or tips with this machine? I am hoping all I have to do is plug it in and set the temp and I will be good to go? My old one was all set so I never had to mess with tension or any of that stuff. It seems this one opens and closes a bit hard so I should get some good biceps making shirts. Smiley

Thanks,
Christi

You may need to adjust the pressure, so be sure to read about that.

Thanks Boomerbabe. I was wondering about that. How do I know if I need to adjust it? I read how to do it if I need to.

I found this on "another" forum
"A good rule of thumb to find the starting point for your pressure is to place a dollar bill or a piece of paper about that size on the front and each side of the lower platen with about half of it hanging over the edge. Close the upper heat platen and try to pull the bill/paper out. If you can pull it out, tighten the adjustment knob 1/4 to 1/2 a turn, close the heat platen and try to pull the bill/paper out again. When you get it to the point that you can't pull it out, that is going to be a good starting place when you put the shirt on the press and close it. You want it to close to where you just get a slight "snap" when it locks down. Not so tight you have to force it closed or open."

Maybe another member will chime in here with more definite instructions.

Thank you MMM. I try. I just know what my press "feels"" like when I close it for light, medium or heavy pressure. I keep meaning to mark the pressure knob with numbers so I can write them down when I feel it is "correct" for what I am pressing. My hat press has the digital pressure readout. My next press will have that too, but that is someday Grin

Thanks so much boomerbabe. I will give that a try! I know it closes and opens with a hard snap it seems but I think that is the magnet attaching to the handle. I will have to learn what things get what type of pressure since all I have done is shirst so far!

That is an excellent way of judging the pressure. Great tips like these are very helpful to our members.
