Which printer would you recommend.  Can both systems run pigmented inks, and CIS systems?  If I can get them for the same price which should I choose?  How hard is it to transfer the Dye inks out  and put durabrite inks in the 1400

I would suggest the WF1100. There are less ink/color carts, you don't need 6 colors for textile or hard good printing. I own four WF1100 printers. Two have refillable carts from inksupply.com, one is in storage and one has a CIS system using ink supplies heat transfer ink.

I am not the biggest or the highest volume shop on this forum, but I can tell you if you follow certain guidelines, you will not have trouble with the WF1100. I also have a 1400, an 1800 and two C88+, all in storage.

I will second this ( WF1100). The cost of ownership is attractive and with a little daily attention (running a quick test print) you will have many many successful transfers produced.

I also recommend the 1100 over the 1400..and the only way I would consider a CIS...having been around this biz for over 13 year...is to get a 1100 with CIS already installed from Cobra Ink...it is ready to run out of the box...no messing around with attaching etc

The 1100 is a solid printer. Talk to Richard at Cobra Ink if you have any questions about the printer or ink. He has been a huge help and is more than happy to answer any questions.

I will have to join the rest in the saying the 1100.  We had one set up in our test lab and left it sitting for a few days and then started it up again and had very little problem getting a good nozzle check.  The 1100 also prints larger paper sizes.

This is what I love about this board. There is SO much info here.. I was going to ask about which printer to get, and here you've already answered all my questions.

We too are very pleased with most of the printer results of our WorkForce 1100 that we recently purchased.
We are however having a problem getting nontransparent black printed onto our silk screen positive film.
At the present time we make two copies and place one behind the other to burn our screens when using the 1100.  We use the text/image setting (although we have tried the photo) and have changed the settings to overprint black.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We are happy, happy, happy with
our 1100.  We got it on the advice
of the forum members here, and glad we did.

Larry, I am not sure what ink you are using. I use ONLY the made in USA Dye based ink from Cobra Ink. Dye base ink is required by most transparencies.

I use the highest quality transparency from Ryonet..... there are others but I have had excellent results with this transparancy.
http://www.silkscreeningsupplies.com/product/WP11x17

I do not have a RIP or any fancy program, or a $2000 printer that has only black carts.
I am using Adobe Photo Shop
I use a WF1100 with the Cobra Dye ink
The printer profile is set to Adobe RGB 1998
I print at Best Photo, black/white, premium photo paper, glossy.
The color handling is set to printer manages color
The rendering intent is set to saturation

Please understand, I am just a screen print hacker at this time with only a year experience. We have several screen printers here that have been printing a long time and I am sure will chime in and give you more insight.

It might be a good idea to resubmit this question in the screen printing section of the forum. It would get more attention there.

Just my 2 cents....I do mostly engraving but added a heat press about a year ago.  After reading went with the 1100 due to the price and excellent reviews.  Has done a great job for me even though I may go weeks between jobs with it.  I should do a test more often to keep inks better...but use the ones directly from Epson and they have been great.
Thanks

While there are good printers out there that will do a job, the best printer is the Epson 1400 and you should use the PRINTER BUDDY #369 INK SYSTEM. The system is proven and the inks out perform all others.  To see this system go to [url][url]www.cherokeelaser.com][url][url][url]www.cherokeelaser.com and watch the videos.  There are several very informative videos about heat transfer with information that no other source has, I highly recommend anyone who does heat transfer/silk screen or embroidery to watch these videos. The Printer Buddy #369 is used for cottons or any other surface including some polys, wood, signs, vinyl and hats. It is lower in cost than any other ink, it uses the Epson 1400 printer as the videos will show. You will never have to pay the extreme prices for inks again using the Printer Buddy System. The Printer Buddy holds 1026ml of ink which is a tremendous amount of ink, it won't wash out, it has a soft feel and matches true color. You can call Cherokee Laser at 971-998-6336.  They also have Sublimation Ink using the same Printer Buddy System. Don't be fooled by any other system because the PRINTER BUDDY SYSTEM IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. It is designed by a company that has been in the Ink and Toner business for 21 years.

Charlie , I think your answers are more about selling your ink system then helping people. Please be careful. You are close to being edited. And I seldom do that.

I will as of now never tell anyone about my product again so if you guys want to know about just let me know. Thanks for the warning. I only think people should know about something that no other company has.

And you have done that repeatedly. If someone ask about ink systems then send them an email about your product. We have other sponsors here that sell ink systems as well.

Did you read my email about "Cherokee" being spelled wrong in the sponsor page?
