Hi, I have an order for 16 shirts front and back. I bought the t-square it and cut the vinyl and am ready to go. I was told to do 4 certain ones first then go from there. I did the fronts and was starting on the back. I was told to put a piece of cardboard in the shirt since I don't have the pad so the front doesn't get ruined. Stupid me put a piece of box cardboard inbetween and when I went to push down the handle and lock it a bolt snapped off from it being to tight. I have an ancient heatpress. I was wondering if anyone has any idea of how I can continue heating these till I get a new press. I tried mighty putty to put the screw back on with no luck Sad If I practacly lay on the thing it presses pretty good but that is pretty hot. I have tried to use a screw driver but I am not strong enough to keep the handle straight to lock it in when it gets to that point. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Christi

Thanks Monkey. I was looking at far from normal in Fargo since that is the closest place for me to get another one but they only carry one brand and one size on hand but I can't remember what size that is.

I sometimes place an extra pad under mine to up the pressure this might help. If you have a local machine shop they might take your old one and copy it for you most of them are happy to help out pretty reasonable. Or was this just a bolt that holds the handle together or something. A pic might help the old imagination.

Thanks I will try that. I am hoping that my Step Dad can weld it back on to the handle sense it looks like that is how it was in the first place. I really can't complain since I only paid $ 4 for it at an auction. Yes it is just like a bolt thing on both sides with the side arms that go threw the bolt and attach to the handle. lol
If I use a long screw driver and make it go kiddy corner and push up while pushing the handle down and cuss a lot. I can get it tight enough to be able to press. wahoo..a pain in my *** but working till I find the press to get. I like the prices on the ones from the suppliers from the forum it is best to spend the extra 400 on a name brand? I like the floating platen for even pressure, but not sure if that could cause problems in the long run?

Thanks,

I learned from the other forum that you are in the area my step daughter is going to college and that is around 3.5 hours from me. I am in the NE corner of SD right off the interstate. Fargo is a bit over an hour from me.

No she is going to school in Bemji!

Oh Dad you are awesome! Use the same thing that broke my machine. It works a lot better then burning my hand on the top trying to get it tight enough!

No Problem. Usually when I use the extra pad I do back the adjustment off a little though. Grin

Yeah that is what I thought. I am a bad step Mom and have never been there though. We did meet half way though over labor day at a resort on battle lake. It was so nice and relaxing!

Thanks to Dad I was able to heat press some more shirts last night and today. Unfortunitly the other bolt/screw broke off the handle so now there is no pressure at all. I searched my press and found out it was from Hix and called them up. I had to take a picture of the handle for the guy and email to him. They no longer make my press or even parts for it. I am not looking into other presses. I really don't do to much of this business. That being said I have been reading on what presses are recommended. I know I want atleast a 15 x 15 since that is what I have now. Name brand really don't matter much to me as long as it works good and if I need help I will get it. I was checking out the Hix site and they have a presto model. Has anyone had this one before?

Thank you,

Pro World if they still have it had a deal where you buy so many stock transfers and get a press for 159.00. Roger has some nice cheaper presses and is here for support, that covers cheap ones. From there I would look into name brand.

If you will post a pic of your handle and press where it broke we may come up with some ideas of fixing it.

Sorry for your bad luck.

Thanks Dad. Proworlds deal sounds great. They are out of them till Oct. 10th though.  I would love to post a pic. I just haven't figured out how to size it yet. I even downloaded picasa and haven't figured it out yet..haha My husband got home last night from working on the road. He thinks you just need to press harder. I told him I was pressing as hard as I could. Sigh.

Thanks,

Christi,
Just remember the press works with a combination of heat and pressure,, if you dont have both,, you will not get the inks set into the garments,,,,,

Thanks MMM I know. I am thankfully doing vinyl so you can repress where it isn't getting down all the way. It just makes it a bit of a hassle. I am still looking into a press to get.
