Ok this might sound weird, but I have to ask. The other day I gave my sister some shirts I had done on the new heat press. After standing there talking for a minute she put a shirt up to her nose and ask what was the smell. I didnt notice it until she said something. I told her I had no idea and didn't think of it anymore. Well I just walked into my sewing room and I now smell it. It not strong in the room but when I walked over to the heat press and smelled the plates it has a glue smell? Not a Elmer glue but maybe and industrial type glue? Please tell me I'm not crazy. Anyone else experience this before ? Huh
I hope this smell don't stay in the fiber? I just bought the 15x15 maxx.

Since most presses have a teflon coating on the platens now a days. (don't know if the Maxx does) and since it is brand new I would say it will go away soon. If not I would call the folks I bought it from.

The rubber pads have a smell as well,,
when the presses are new,, let your heat press heat up and just press a pill ow case every few minutes for a while, but keep your press on for at least 3 or 4 hours heating up and pressing a pillow case,,

see if that helps

i have never fre breezed a garment, but wonder if you should,,,

MMM

When your press is broke in, it is not normal for your garment to smell,

All pads have a smell when new. It eventually goes away. There is an industrial glue that holds the pads on. I was going to use such when I made the big pads and the sliders but the fact that the pads were only 1/4 inch I thought against it after making some samples. a few of the members bought those and commented on the small and also said it went away after a while. But I decided to use a different fastener instead.
