ok so im looking for the heat presses at price and quality... i have option 1 Mighty Press Porta 11"x15" - Economy Heat Press for $495 shipped and everything, then i really like this one because cheaper and bigger kind of Geo Knight 12" x 14" Digital Swinger JetPress - Free Shipping *SPECIAL*, for $460. or just get a geo knight 9 x 12 for $256--- which i really dont want but need to start making shirts now! or with a sunie press from proworld for 15 x 15 ? for 169 but adding in the amount of paper makes the price 490 or something. Now if i can know between the 1st two that would be great!! thanks!!

I have an 8 yr old Hix Manual...may have to replace soon and about 3 yrs ago I bought a Sunie 15x15 digital press.  It has not missed a beat. I am not worried about parts etc as I live just 200 miles from their warehouse in Sparks, NV. I would never get a 9x12 press if I could possibly afford a 15x15. To replace my older Hix, I am looking at the Sunie 16x20..with 20 inches being the wide side as you face the machine

Pro World has a decent press, but I was told that they are out of stock for about 3 weeks or so..

It is just my personal opinion...not worth a lot I am afraid...but I would by the Sunie or Proworld before I would get a 9x12 or 12x14

With all due respect to Charles,,,,if you do buy a SunIE type machine buy if from ProWorld and NOT SunIE. Their products, in my opinion, are TERRIBLE and their customer service WORSE. ProWorld has economy presses that they will stand behind. I agree totally that you must have no smaller than 15x15.

Not sure but Ed can pop in here and clarify. Proworld is  Sunie with proworld label. I know they were selling Sunie before they opted for their own logo units. And they stood behind the sunie as well. That said, I would agree buy from a company that stands behind their units. Check out heatpressvinyl.com, proworldinc.com, heatpressnation.com these 3 are sponsors and sell the lower priced units.

I know gprockhill has had problems with Sunie..and I respect that opinion..but is one of many purchases..I have had zero problems and at least 7 of my acquaintances have them and no problem... and as for customer service..let me tell you my story..on a Friday afternoon, my old heat press decided to stop...and I had a $300 order due monday!! At 3 PM on a Friday, there is no way to find a new or used heat press in my area. I called Frank at Sunie..explained my problem (I had not purchased from them before) and he agreed to meet me at his warehouse on Saturday afternoon... I had to drive 200 miles but he met as promised..got my press and was home in time to test and then start pressing on Sunday...made my order and all was good.. So I can only state my personal opinion/experience....unit has worked flawlessly for about 3 years, service was good. I cannot assess the experience of others...I will only say there is no product/company who has 100% of all customers happy.

I agree that Proworld has a good product, but I was told they are out of stock until near end of Sep...Maybe that has changed. I believe both offer free shipping

Also check out Craigslist in your area...there was a hottronic digital temp/time/pressure that just sold in my area for $500

I will reply to the Illumipress for you. DO NOT BUY THIS PRESS!!!!!!!!!! I have used one for over a year now and the temp fluctuates continuously. Though I have been able to use mine others here have had disasters that we do not wish on anyone. Even a couple fires from this brand. In my opinion from doing just as you are talking about you get what you pay for. Buy a name brand press from a reputable dealer that will support you. The extra cost will be invaluable later.
Hope this helps.

thank you all !! i have kind of dropped my choices to three heat presses i have the one from pro world i think they just restocked because it doesnt say anything anymore of being backordered normally they would put it in red writing before purchase. Now thats the 1st then i got the second which is the GEO KNIGHT 12X14 which is not bad in size and swinger also. Then i been trying to lean alot more towards the MIGHTY PRESS THAT IS 11X15 porta press, just because i have heard mighty is a great press. Still which 3 should i really choose? thanks last question.!!

I have the GeoKnight 12X14, and it works great for me. I would not go any smaller that that. If your budget can handle it, I think your best bet for a starter is a 15X15.

I will put in my recommendations for what it is worth.....Don't buy anything less than a 16x20 press and only buy a namebrand press.  I'd look seriously at Stahls.  They have fantastic customer service as well as great products.

Why a 16x20 press?  It will not take you long until you are needing to print more than just an 8.5 x 11.  Then you will be up the creek without a paddle.

When I first started I wanted to go with the cheapest available.  After researching I realized I really needed to go with the biggest and best I could afford.  At the time for me that was the mighty 16x20.  I have never regretted the purchase even though I started just with 8.5x11 prints, but it didn't take long to need the bigger size.  Unless you are just doing kids sized garments you will soon need a minimum 15x15 and for the extra cost it's better to save up for the 16x20.  I consistently print 14-15 inch square designs and even though I could do it on a 15x15 it gets a little tight.  With the extra platen space you have more room and at least for me is just easier to work on.

Not trying to tell you to not buy a cheap small press, but if you plan on making a business out of this take my word for it and buy bigger right off the start.  You won't regret it whereas you will regret not doing it later on if you don't.

Listen very carefully. There is No Paper for Darks that feels really soft. It can't be done because inkjet printers do not print white ink. Therefor they have to put a coating on the paper to make up for the white ink. This coating transfers to the shirt creating a heavy feel something like plastic. I have found 2 that work for photo's if you don't mind the heavy hand. 3G Jet Opaque a Clearsoft for Darks sold by ProWorld. My personal preference is Clearsoft for Darks.

Yes you will be using cotton mostly. They do fade a little over time but are acceptable by all standards. I have had no cracking with either papers after possibly 50 washings on some of my shirts and I basically wear one everyday. The only thing you are not going to like is the hand or feel of either one. Personally I think the Clearsoft has less hand and better feel than 3G Jet Opaque but not by much. I use them to print Motocross pictures of our kids for the families that we race with. No one cares about the hand in this instance because we all wear our children proudly. Hope this helps.

No Clearsoft is just ProWorlds name for it. I am not sure of the other names and companies that sell it. Maybe Ken will jump in here I am sure he knows.
