ok- added pic of the paper backing that i peeled off AT THE TOP
1-the botton two papers with the name LUMPKIN DAVIS were done as soon as i got home. i turned the pressure up a little and put on the teflon bra & panty that came in the mail and it turned out PERFECT so i did two more test and it went welll so i thought it was all good.
got ready to do a shirt and bam! the same thing.. fading on the letters.
after the third shirt i started turning the shirts upside down(collar toward me) so Im doing the name on the back with the shirt up side down. i see a little better turn out but nothing like the perfect look i saw on the very first one.
im so confused!! ? Cry Cry

The picture clearly shows that the transfers marked in pink are completely void of ink. The transfers marked in white are not.

I need a moment to think about this.

so ken are we dealing with a press that heats up for the first few shirts,, and works but then starts to do its cool down and can not maintain the temp?

therefore the 3rd shirt and after are bad,,,,, the heating coils cannot maintain the temp, that the rest of the press has,, therefore producing a spotty  result?

That is what this issue is pointing to. I can draw no other conclusion form the info I have.

Thank you for helping me type that out....... I am a bit frazzled at the moment with a job that is not going well.

Maddening Isn't It?

I think so it probably fluctuates like my illumipress. I have to do a couple then wait a couple minute then do a couple more. Sometimes I have to put a pad between the shirt to get better contact with a cheap press it is a contest sometimes. I have the problem with JPSS and Plastisol. Everything else works perfect even sublimation. It seems to be toward the back of the platen and I am Thinking Twisted's theory of air getting there isn't helping either. I thought she had an illumipress but she tells me she sets her temp in Fahrenheit and checks it and it is within 5 deg of her setting. I have never seen an illumipress that reads in fahrenheit. They may have changed them. I usually set my temp 5 to 10 deg higher and hold it a couple seconds past 30. We all know that all presses are different.

Probably not relevant here, but.....I have a swing away press, and at one point in time I had to replace the post that holds the top platen (the weld at the base was cracked, causing uneven pressure). The top platen would make contact at the front of the press, but not the back.

I agree the problem we're discussing here does sound like a temp problem. But just for the sake of elimination, put a piece of paper down at each corner of the press, lower the platen, and tug on the paper -- if it can be removed, or moves around easily, then you have an uneve pressure problem.

Congrats, Jazzy. Way to power through. I have never been able to get through a job 100% perfect. Heck even the big guys allow a spoilage percentage. You should be very proud. Grin
