Life is a Circle, Never take more than you Give!

WWW
« on: August 21, 2010, 11:34:41 PM »

Ok guys I have heard of screening bleach  ,, but I did something different,, or at least different to me,, lol

1.I cut sign vinyl ,  weeded it and put clear transfer tape over like i was going to put it on a sign.

2.I layed down a black tee, put something in the tee or it could bleed thru tot he other side

3. I layed the sign vinyl on the tee and squeegeed it to the tee, ( if i did not have small pieces i would have just peeled and put on the tee)

4. Carefully peel the clear tape off leaving the sign vinyl on the shirt.

5. Take a spray bottle with Bleach and spray heavier around the image
and fade it out to the bottom and arms, I also turned my tee over and sprayed the back, cuz i liked it,, lol

6. The bleach starts eating the black color off the shirt right away, take the color when you have the color you want, i liked the bronze brown so i went to my laundry tub and washed it out,, and peeled the vinyl off.

The reason you spray more around the image is you want the image to be nice and black, so by spraying bleach more heavy around that area, you end up with color that shows you image off, kinda a reverse silk screen,,

I can see this with foil over it, rhinestones or silk screen ,,, or just all alone,

I love it,,,

I have it drying, so i will take a pic, when it is done, in the morn,, ohhh it is morning,, lol
well later morning,,,,,,

That sounds like fun.

My question, not being a housewife and having no experience with bleach............. won't the bleach eat up the fabric causing it to fail completely in a wash or two???

Hi Ken,
You would need quite a few washes for the bleach to ruin the shirt.
My partner always puts some bleach when she washes our white sheets, and none have ripped yet, so I think it should be OK.

Yes, bleach will shorten the life span of a garment, particularly if used full strength  When used in laundry it is diluted considerably. It still will eventually weaken the fabric. The destructive quality of the bleach can be somewhat stopped if the fabric(garment) is rinsed in plain water and then rinsed again with anti-chlor (same stuff that is added to aquariums to neutralize the chlorine in the water when it's changed). Discharging with bleach is easy because nearly all of us have it in our homes, but it is still quite hazardous as we are now finding with a number of household products. My advice is if you are going to use it, then be sure to use all safety precautions, gloves, safety goggles, respirator. Just my opinion (but based on experience).

That is very nice Sandy Jo. Quite clever and something that holds endless possibilities using the process.

This web site will add more info to the neutralizing issue. Somebody already mentioned 3% Hydrogen peroxide.

Not many things get me interested lately but I just skidded past my graphics collection of over 1,000 tribal images and then past ladies tattoos............ on to western stuff............ Celtic designs..... dragons ..Asian.........skulls ............Family Dollar won't have a drop of bleach left or any peroxide by days end. I know the peroxide isn't the high test stuff but it will do for now, they sell it in large bottles.

Due to my lung condition, I have all the masks etc and pure O2 just in case.

I really needed a nap.......... oh well maybe later.

MMM use the "add images to post" for photos set the dims at 640 x 480  or 800 and the images are much easier to see when someone clicks on them..

if you purchase anti-chlor that is used for aquariums or hydrogen peroxide as a neutralizer it can become expensive. Buying as a concentrated compound is cheaper as you mix 1 level Tbl to 2.5 gals of water.
Try here http://www.prochemicalanddye.com/store/product.php?productid=16675&cat=324&page=1

Chemical is sodium bisulfite.

Here are instructions for use as bleasch neutralizer

http://www.prochemical.com/directions/Discharge%20PDF/Antichlor.pdf

I want my friends to be around a long time and healthy Smiley
