Often time we think the heat press gauge for temperature reading is correct. Often times we are wrong. This can affect our pressing of transfers. I think it is important to know what our presses are printing at. I have a IR reader that I use to check my press. Just aim at various spots to get readings. yesterday I got my mailer from harbor freight tools. They really have cheap stuff. They are currently offering a  cen-tec Non Contact laser Thermometer for #25.95  Normally this is $59.99. I believe you can order on line atwww.harborfreight.com I recommend everyone get one of these. Lou

I bought one of these a few years ago, I bought the contact probe to go with it.
Works OK for me.

Here are a couple of ideas/solutions for this for those that do not use Harbor Freight.  Most areas have a Lowes and/or Home Depot. Both stores carry either identical or similar items.

Personally I have an Electrical Testing Meter, it also has temperature reading via a thermocouple. I guess that I like a direct touching approach haven't yet graduated to a laser tester plus the meter is less than half the price.

Check out the Ideal 310 here (measures in both C and F temps only $22):

http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=292768-12704-61-310&langId=-1&storeId=10151&productId=3095863&catalogId=10051&cmRelshp=sim&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

Here is a Laser/Infrared Thermometer similar price:

Infrared Thermometer a little less $$:

http://www.lowes.com/pd_73790-56005-IRT207_4294821925_4294937087?productId=3136869&pl=1&currentURL=/pl_Test%2BMeters%2B_4294821925_4294937087_?rpp=15$No=30

Just a couple of other solutions that may be a bit more available for some, Knowing the temp of your heat press is vital to Quality, Knowing is also Peace Of Mind!!!  Wink Wink
