I have become intrigued with those of you who roast your own coffee beans. This is where you can post information on roasters and green beans, where to get and how to do it and any other little tidbits you want to share. Grin

There are alot of great places to buy green coffee beans online, but I'm with Roger on this one and also order mine from Sweet Maria's.  The owner travels all over the world to visit coffee farms and purchase beans, so they have a great, hand-picked selection.  They also rate the coffees which I find helpful and kinda fun.  Sweet Maria's also has coffee roasters and is where I purchased my Fresh Roast.  It roasts only very small batches, but I like that because it's super quick and I can just put it on my stove under the range hood vent.  No need for special venting and I don't have to freeze my tushy off in the cold Michigan winters.  It also has glass roasting chambers so that you can see the beans as they roast.

It doesn't have to be a huge investment for the roaster.  I have the older Fresh Roast +8 which, at the time, was less than $100.  It's since been revamped with two new models and is now a little higher in price with the beginning model at $109.  While you are at it, and if you want the ability to roast two batches in a row, buy an extra roasting chamber.  The coffee sampler is a good buy and a great way to try some different beans especially when you are first starting out.

For years I had been trying to convice my neighbor, who also loves coffee, to try roasting beans, and when he finally did last fall, he told me he wished he hadn't waited so long.  So if you're thinking about trying it, give it a shot (haha ... pun intended)!  And if you really want to soak up anything and everything to do with coffee, check out www.coffeegeek.com which has a ton of information!! :-)

I do about the same but it depends on what I am roasting, if its a blend I will take it to the second crack cause some beans have more moisture than others,,, that way I don't end up with beans half roasted

Have you guys found a favorite bean?  For everyday use, I enjoy trying a variety and don't necessarily have a favorite one that I drink all the time.

I will answer your question here of what is an Irish Roast, there is no such thing that I know of it is Rogers preference of Irish Coffee. He really doesn't care for the coffee, he just uses it to hide the booze from his wife. Irish coffee is one cup of coffee with one shot of Irish whiskey. Grin Of course this is just a friendly stab at Roger that backfired. Wink Grin

I have a pot on now, and after rearranging all day, i need it, Trying to make the shop not looks so girly so off came the lacey curtain for the dressing rooms,, or changing rooms and on when black panels,,

we have 14 foot ceilings in the old building with stamped tin, our building was builit in 1883,,
untill today i had waterfall hooks up high,, never knew what to do with the space besides waterfall hooks and body forms with shirts,,

today we displayed the banners there ,, and made a whole new corner for the car decals,,
After our big event next weekend i will find a nice corner for premade rhinestone tranfers for diy as welll...

So as soon as my pot of coffee is done,, i am so going to sit and enjoy a cup
