I am looking for input from you out there.  My inquiry is to the use of Graphics Tablets/Touch/Pens for design input.  I have several questions that I would like comments on.

1)    Do you currently or have you in the past used or attempted to use a Graphics Tablet to input your artwork?

2)    Did you use it for Graphics art ( vinyl cutting, screen print, sign layout etc.), Photo work or Embroidery Digitizing?

3)    What did you like about using the tablet and also what did you dislike?

4)    Big question is if this would be a useful tool in Embroidery Digitizing?

Please take a few minutes to comment, I would appreciate you input.

Thanks,   Bob K.

Don't know about using it for digitizing Bob, but we do have a tablet in our shop. It is way better than try to use a mouse to draw. Our Artist's use it continuously. They are a little pricy but well woth it for doing Art work. Oh yeah we have a Wacom.

Like MXR....I have a Wacom Tablet...larger size and it is surely better than a mouse...it does take some 'getting accustomed' to the different feel...looking at the screen when drawing instead of looking at the 'paper'..It does take up real estate when not in use..or you have to unplug and place elsewhere if you are short on room

Dad, what size Wacom tablet do you use? Some of them are quite affordable but do look tiny..

Yep Charles is right they do take some space. Rock I am not sure of the exact size without looking and I am not at the shop. I will check when I go there for you. It is around 8.5 x 11 or something though. It cost about 300.0 as I recall. They have new ones out now that I want though it has a screen on it just like a notepad or something. You don't have to set and look at the monitor anymore you see what your drawing right on the wacom tablet. I am going to get me one someday.

Thank you all so far for the info.  I am actually looking into the Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch, I had an old Wacom that I used for just a short time but lost interest @ 8 years ago. At that time I had no clue as to where I would be and what I am doing today!  I am just wondering if the risk is worth the price??  Sure it's only $99 + shipping but this is a total gamble on my part for testing.

I guess that it would be a tax deductible purchase though!   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

This is the one I am looking at:  http://www.wacom.com/bamboo/bamboo_pen_touch.php

What do you think?

The small size of that one would take me a minute, but the price is fantastic and it is much newer than ours does a lot more stuff. You could throw the mouse away. Thumbs up from me. Again I don't do digitizing so I don't know for that part.

I don't have a tablet.....I can dream though  Cheesy

As for digitizing....it doesn't really matter how you get your graphic into the computer...I have digitized from hand drawings that I've scanned into my computer, so I don't see any reason why you couldn't digitize from a tablet drawing.
