I’m trying to start up a business been reading loads. I want to start of with slogan T’s with a future plan on creating my own brand etc. While vinyl would be ideal for the slogans I’m having second thoughts on it being of use for a brand shirt and wondering if its better to go the screen printing route by either getting them printed for me or learning the process my self. I’m in the UK by the way so any advice welcome.

I was foolish enough to buy a foison c24 (cant do nothing with it) rather than saving for a Graphtec 5000-60  or Roland. (what one would be better)
I do have a craft robo but finding it’s a fiddle to get my designs outlined using the craft robo software I find I have to redo al the out lines by hand deleting a lot of the cut points etc. Is there an easier way to do this? I do a lot of my art work in photo shop would using illustrator help i.e. design in Photoshop copy to illustrator n some how get the craft robo to work of it ? or would it save a lot of time a effort to buy a Roland or Graphtec 5000-60 in and use what ever program comes with it (meaning id have to learn a whole new program ) or just skip straight to screen printing. Id also like to get into embroidery one day . Thanks in advanced to any advice

With my little robo I just save everything as a jpeg and use the software that came with it. Has done a great job for me.

My two cents here: consider a Copam cutter- it's price is a lot less than a Graphtec and might be more do able money wise at this time for you. I had an 'economy' cutter that I had issues with. While my Copam is certainly not a Graphtec is is easy for me to use and cuts well for my purposes: USCutter.com

the foison is a knk machine or accugraphics has rebranded them with that,, they are supposed to be a decent machine.
Maybe we can help you figure it out,
or your craft robo, if you could use those, then maybe you use your $$ for screening,,
Photoshop when exporting eps files always carries a bitmap with it, so it is not a clean eps file to cut from,, that might be part of the problem, I would suggest downloading inkscape a free bee or even better corel or adobe, to export clean eps files to cut.
Clean files are the key..
What ever you decide we will be here to help.

HMMM on the cutters,, you may need a little direction on the machines as they are straight forward,, on the screen print side of things if you can't get the cutters to work for you I think screen printing would be the wrong direction for you.

There is a ray of hope however,, if it is just slogans you are doing I would consider plastisol transfers,, that would be the simple easy approach...

If you need help with the cutters be sure to let us know Grin Huh Grin

I can get the craftrobo to work fine. I just wanted one I could do bigger area of the t-shirts on and pos car sighns. The problem with the fision is i cant get hold of drivers to get it to work with illistrator or drivers to get it to work full stop id didnt come with instructions and the site that sold it now have rebranded to the new cutter they are selling. I think I could maage the screen printing im rather practical and a qualified decorator so its all paint at the endof the day.

Go to the foison website and download the driver,, then you will have to have software to connect to the driver so you can cut,,,
