I am curious how long I can expect my cutter blade to last especially cutting rhinestone template material? Currently using DAS template material and 60 degree blade.
Thank you

Sorry, didn't quite know where to post this - Lou, you can move to to a more appropriate place if that would be helpful. PS love the hair-do  Smiley

When you take your blade out to clean it , with achohol, every once in a while to get excess glue and stuff off, check out the blade,, look and see if it is still sharp and look for a dicolored metal look, almost like it got to hot,,
when my circles are not cutting nice anymore, and all these happen, i change my blade for templates.
I love the clean cut blades from clean cut i think they are a sponsor here, and we get a discount...

Thank you, Sandy Jo. I didn't know about cleaning the blade with alcohol. Any special way to do this? I know dumb question, but do you use a rag or something with alcohol on it - or just dip/soak the blade in the alcohol? I plan on getting the Clean Cut blades when the time comes to replace. Did you find any sandals at Walgreen's to rhinestone?

I didnt get there last night, did 2 emergency haircuts,, instead,,
hope to get here tomorrow,,

i just take a lintless rag,, and dip the blade in alchol and wipe clean,, we get so much glue resin stuck on the it, that we dont ever see,, always protect that blade when doing this dont let it drop,,
i also wipe the blade holder tip off with alcohol as well.

Test your cutter roller once in a while too to make sure they are tight from pulling the template material thru. they can loosen,
Mine tighten with a allen wrench. i keep it right on the cutter,, and just check once in a while.

I cannot remember exactly where I read this but what I remember is that most blades should last on standard vinyl in the neighborhood of 4000 meters of actual cutting. How someone could keep track of this I don't know at this point, possibly something in the various cutter menus that may track cutting distance. If not then not too much help, wish I could do better.  Undecided

Thank you, Flint54 at least I know that I shouldn't have to replace any time real soon. Even with my mistakes and wasted vinyl I haven't come even close to 4000 meters. Grin

Boomer,, cutting templates tho takes a lot of time off the blades,, when you do change them you will see that they actually get hot and leave a tarnished look around the shank from cutting thru that rubber ,,  those babies get heated up pretty good,, I change my blades every 2-4 weeks when doing templates,,, or flock or mettalic vinyl...

Clean cuts do give me more time for sure,,,, I think some of the forum members sell them here,,,

Thanks, Sandy Jo. I know that the template material will take a heavier toll and I do plan on changing the 60 degree blade more often, but so far so good. And Clean Cut is the way I'll be going. I've heard nothing but praise for these blades.

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-83279695798634/Blade-Plunger-FAQ-web.pdf

Here is a link at the Graphtec Store, this is a pdf that has the blades and the blade holders. For the CB09UA standard use blade  it states a Max cutting distance of @ 4000 meters.

I knew that I saw it somewhere and when I saw the blade prices I checked out the Clean Cut Blades and prices. Glad I did!!!! Shocked Shocked Grin
