So for instance when you do a banner, what do you apply the vinyl to? Is it another piece of vinyl? Or is the substrate some other type of cloth like material
Jeanne wrote this,, above

Ok, jeanne,
When i do a Banner,,
I cut the vinyl, weed it,, apply my tape over the top side of the weeded vinyl, 651 oracle, is what i usually use.  clean and lay out my banner, I like to do the book end application,,Which is when i pay the tape over the top i leave about 3 inches extra over on one side. so i can stick it to the banner.
I then peel the backside off slowly as i am squeegeeing the vinyl on the banner,to make sure and not have air bubbles.
now if you have more than one color on top of each other,  i spray a lil dawn soap, acohol and water mixture on teh layer i just put on,, then peel the 2nd layers back side off and with the water dawn soap and alcholol mixture it lets you wiggle the vinyl into the right spot, then when you have it right you squeegee the solution mixture out,,
I hope this doesnt confuse you,, coroplast signs are the same way,,,

I was totally ok with the SunIE thread being hijacked - I am tired of thinking about them. Forgive my ignorance here but what are you placing the cut vinyl on. So if for instance I am going to do a banner - a 4 foot wide by 2 foot tall banner, I buy the sign vinyl to cut and place it on the .......
I feel a little foolish asking this as it should be common sense perhaps but for me...not so much.

You put it on Banner material. At one time Banners were made of canvas, however nowadays they are made of man made materials. Mostly vinyl or PVC.
You can purchase the size you want already made up or purchase the material and cut to the size you want and use seaming tape to create the seams, or you can sew the seams. Most just purchase the size they need and cut their vinyl and apply to create the sign. Making your own means purchasing more equipment. I get mine from Signs Plus Banners and I know that others have some good resources for banner material.

The reason my hubby needed to know how to do banners,, was we have a security business that wants 18 in with grommets to hang from suction type things in the windows,, for the employees cars,,
and I have not seen 20 in or smaller has anyone else? These will hang in the windows of there personal cars, so they dont want vinyl stright on the windows.

The faves list tells us that these folks make custom banners in almost any size. The link allows you to specify the height, length color and quantity blank. I just did one for 18 x 24 and it priced it at $6.00
